The Model X is Significantly Worse at Towing than the Cybertruck
Bowlus has been testing the tow range of popular electric trucks and SUVs since the Tesla Model X first launched in 2015. The company’s top-of-the-line Volterra model is an all-electric camp trailer with 17 kWh of onboard power. The trailer starts at $310,000, so it makes sense that the company is doing such involved testing.
Luxury manufacturer Bowlus tested a Cybertruck against a Model X using the same trailer. The much older SUV delivered a better percentage of its advertised range. Bowlus found that the Model X delivered the much older vehicle with a better range than the Cyberruck.
Tesla Cybertruck gets worse Towing Range than Model X with the same trailer. Don't confuse high towing capacity with high efficiency. Tesla's towing range is much lower than that of the Model X, but it's more likely to be a better range.
