Millburn D24 reinstates ‘left-leaning’ statewide summer reading programs; ‘Even if we are young, we can still learn about these things’ Teachers were “fearful” of what could happen if they chose books from the lists for their classes to read.
Summer reading, math program begins June 10 at 23 sites in Gary, Lake Ridge schools. Enrollment is free for students entering grades 1-9. Program is open to traditional public school students, charter schools, private schools and home-schooled children. All sites will serve breakfast, lunch and snacks.

A program is expected to be ready by the last day of school on June 4.
