Millburn D 24 is scrambling to find an alternative to the state summer reading programs

Millburn D24 reinstates ‘left-leaning’ statewide summer reading programs; ‘Even if we are young, we can still learn about these things’ Teachers were “fearful” of what could happen if they chose books from the lists for their classes to read.

Summer reading, math program begins June 10 at 23 sites in Gary, Lake Ridge schools. Enrollment is free for students entering grades 1-9. Program is open to traditional public school students, charter schools, private schools and home-schooled children. All sites will serve breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Millburn D24 scrambling to find alternative to state summer reading programs; ‘How do you do that to your teachers?’ Superintendent Jason Lind said a group of English language arts teachers and some board members will discuss options for a summer reading program. A program is expected to be ready by the last day of school on June 4.
