New York City Council approved bills to give EMTs body armor and self-defense training
FDNY Emergency Medical Services workers will have access to body armor and self-defense training. Legislation passed Thursday by the City Council to address an increase in attacks on first responders. EMS workers will be able to access body armor, self defense training as part of the legislation.

FDNY EMTs to get body armor, regular self-defense training under NYC Council bills. The bills now head to Mayor Adams' desk for his signature. They come amid an uptick in attacks on EMT in the city in recent years. Mayor Adams is expected to sign the bills.
