The byelection in the south Sydney seat was triggered when the former prime minister announced his resignation from politics in January. Simon Kennedy wins the seat of Cook, which was vacated by Scott Morrison. The former PM resigned from office in January after announcing his resignation in February. The result is the first byelection to be held in Cook since 2010.
