US will provide $6.1 billion to Micron Technology for chip plants in NY, Idaho. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer courted Micron to build what would ultimately be a set of four chip factories near Syracuse in the town of Clay. ”It will be the biggest memory chip plant in America,” said Schumer.

Micron set to get $6 billion in chip grants from US, Bloomberg reports. It is not clear whether the company also plans to accept loans available through 2022 CHIPS and Science Act. U.S. President Joe Biden has announced several funding initiatives, including nearly $20 billion in loans and grants for Intel and GlobalFoundries.
