The board of trustees at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, voted unanimously on Monday in favor of disbanding its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) program and instead diverting the millions of dollars in funding toward campus police, according to a report.

UNC Chapel Hill's Board of Trustees voted Monday to cut funding for diversity programs in next year's budget.

The vote comes as the university system is expected to restrict DEI programs statewide.
