Story

Iga Swiatek won the Internazionali BNL d’Italia title in Rome by beating Aryna Sabalenka. Swiatek, who is 22 years old and from Poland, defeated Sabalenka, who is 26 years old and from Belarus, in just one hour and 29 minutes. This victory marked Swiatek's third win in four years. She also won against Sabalenka in the Mutua Madrid Open final two weeks ago. In that match, Swiatek saved three match points before winning. Swiatek dominated the first set by breaking Sabalenka's serve early on. She maintained control with strong returns, making it difficult for Sabalenka to catch up. The second set was more challenging, with Swiatek saving seven break points before taking the lead and winning the match. This victory was Swiatek's 21st WTA title and her fourth this year. She has now won nine consecutive final matches. Swiatek joins a select group of women, including Dinara Safina in 2009 and Serena Williams in 2013, who have won both the Madrid and Rome tournaments in the same year.
