Delhi Police wanted to keep Bibhav Kumar in custody for seven days. He was brought to court at 9.15 pm after being arrested at 4.15 pm. The police said Bibhav Kumar had an iPhone but wouldn't share the password and had reset the phone. The incident happened on May 13. The defense argued that the Chief Minister is a public figure but not always accessible. The defense said there was no need for a seven-day custody as no weapons were involved. The defense also mentioned there was no delay in reporting the incident. The defense believed the arrest was unjustified. The police requested seven-day custody for Bibhav Kumar, which was debated in court. Swati Maliwal was examined on May 16 and had bruises on her leg and cheek. She accused Bibhav Kumar, the aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, of assaulting her. The FIR was filed against Bibhav Kumar under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. The Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury called for a thorough investigation into the assault case. The Congress and AAP are partners in the opposition INDIA bloc. Priyanka Gandhi expressed support for women facing atrocities. The Delhi Police Forensic Science Laboratory collected CCTV footage from the CM's residence as part of the investigation.
