Story

Caitlin Clark played her best game yet as a professional basketball player in New York. She scored 22 points, the most in three games, and also had eight assists and six rebounds. Clark felt she played harder this time, which is her main focus for future games. The game in New York, where Clark played for the first time and the Liberty had their first home game, made over $2 million in ticket sales, setting a WNBA record. The New York team won by 36 points, but the opposing team, the Fever, put up a good fight, especially thanks to Clark's strong performance. Even though the Fever lost, player Kelsey Mitchell felt they did better than expected. This was Clark's first time playing in New York, as she never played there in college or high school. She was excited to visit all the WNBA arenas. Clark attracted many sports celebrities to the game, such as Billie Jean King, Sue Bird, Megan Rapinoe, Michelle Wie West, and Dawn Staley. During the game, Clark made an impressive long-range shot, but it didn't count due to a foul. New York shot well throughout the game, making 56% of their shots in the first half and hitting 12 out of 18 three-pointers. Their strong shooting continued in the second half, with all five starters making multiple three-pointers.
