Since October, thousands of items of illegal wildlife have been seized at the airport

More than 4,200 items of animal and plant products violating wildlife laws and regulations have been seized by inspectors since the start of Oct. 2023, according to airport U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.

Thousands of pieces of illegal wildlife contraband have been seized by inspectors at LAX since October, including turtle skulls, butterflies, peacock feathers and pieces of coral.
