Story

A Kenyan mountaineer named Joshua Cheruiyot Kirui died while trying to climb Mount Everest without extra oxygen. His guide, Nawang Sherpa, is still missing. They lost contact on Wednesday. Kirui's body was found close to the summit. He was a banker from Nairobi and a passionate mountaineer. He was the second Kenyan to reach the top of Everest. Kirui shared his journey on Instagram, explaining the risks and preparations for climbing without extra oxygen. He was well-prepared with medications and emergency oxygen. Mount Everest is the highest mountain on Earth, standing at 29,035 feet above sea level. Kirui was known for his love of outdoor challenges like ultramarathons and climbing tough mountains. He was described as determined and passionate by his colleagues. The mountain is in the Himalayas, on the border of Nepal and Tibet. Over 300 people have died on Everest. Climbing season is usually in April and May when the weather is better. Another climber, Daniel Paul Paterson from Britain, and his guide Pas Tenji Sherpa are missing on Everest. They were last seen near the summit. A dangerous ice fall may have caused the accident. Witnesses reported the incident between Summit Ridge and South Summit. Rescuers are searching for them. Paterson was part of a team led by Bolivian climber David Hugo Ayaviri Quispe. The team is working hard to find the missing climbers. More than 450 climbers have reached the summit of Everest from the Nepali side this season. Sadly, three climbers have died, and four are still missing. Climbing Everest is very challenging, especially in the "death zone" where the air is thin and conditions are extreme. It's a risky adventure that requires careful planning and skill.
