Connecticut Sun wins in overtime against Minnesota Lynx with late free throws

DeWanna Bonner helped the Connecticut Sun win their fourth game in a row by making two free throws in overtime. The Sun were losing by 13 points at the beginning but managed to beat the Minnesota Lynx 83-82. Bonner scored 20 points, Brionna Jones had 19, and Alyssa Thomas contributed 18 points for Connecticut. The Sun is the only team in the WNBA that has not lost a game yet. On the other side, Napheesa Collier scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Minnesota, who now has a 2-1 record. Courtney Williams scored 19 points, Kayla McBride had 13, and Alanna Smith scored 10 points. The game was tied at 79 points when Rachel Banham made a 3-pointer for the Sun with 40 seconds left. Then, Alyssa Thomas scored a runner to give Connecticut an 81-80 lead with 17 seconds remaining. McBride quickly answered with a jumper to put the Lynx ahead by one point. Bonner was fouled by Collier and made the crucial free throws with 7.4 seconds left. McBride missed a shot that could have won the game for Minnesota, and Bonner secured the victory by grabbing the rebound. The game took place in Uncasville, Connecticut.
