This morning, there were many people waiting in long lines at Pittsburgh International Airport because it's expected to be a very busy travel weekend. Lauren Linder talked to some travelers before Memorial Day Weekend. Pittsburgh International Airport was very crowded before Memorial Day weekend. AAA, a travel organization, said this weekend might be one of the busiest in almost 20 years. Joe Marko was getting ready to go to California for the holiday. He planned to play golf and go fishing with his friends. He knew there would be long lines at the airport. AAA said that this weekend could be the most crowded at airports since 2005, with over 3.5 million people flying across the country. Early on Friday morning in Pittsburgh, the longest wait time for TSA security checks was more than 20 minutes. Joe Marko said he had learned from past experiences not to drive for an hour and 45 minutes through Pittsburgh to catch an early flight. He made sure to arrive early before his flight to West Palm. However, he was surprised by the big crowds. He said, "I was shocked when I saw the long line. I didn't expect it to be this long." He added, "Just go with the flow. It is what it is." He was looking forward to getting through the line, having a cup of coffee, sitting on the plane for five hours, and enjoying the weekend. During holiday weekends, Pittsburgh International Airport opens extra security checkpoints when lines are very long to help people get through TSA checks faster. Lauren Linder was reporting live from the airport.
