Story

Sweden will give Ukraine $1.23 billion in military aid. This is the biggest help Sweden has given so far. The aid includes important equipment for Ukraine. Sweden won't send its JAS 39 Gripen jets to Ukraine right now. Instead, Ukraine will focus on using F-16 fighter jets. Belgium also promised to give Ukraine 30 F-16 jets. Sweden might help with the Gripen jets later. Sweden will donate two SAAB ASCC airplanes to Ukraine. These planes will help Ukraine's air defense a lot. The donation will make Sweden's defense weaker temporarily. Sweden's Prime Minister thinks this is a strong contribution. The aid also includes a missile system for planes and ground defense. This system will be given to Ukraine with the help of the United States. This is the 16th aid package from Sweden since Russia invaded Ukraine.
