Story

ATF agent Brian Higgins finished talking in court. Then, John O'Keefe's niece and nephew spoke. The children involved in the Karen Read murder trial testified on Tuesday after Brian Higgins. The prosecutor focused on Karen Read's blood alcohol level on the night O'Keefe died. In the morning, at 10 a.m., all cameras in the courtroom were turned off when the children under John O'Keefe's care testified. The girl said things were good at first but turned bad later. She mentioned that the relationship used to be fun but not anymore. O'Keefe's niece talked about the morning of January 29, 2022, when they found the body of the Boston police officer at 34 Fairview Road in Canton. She first thought she might have hit O'Keefe during a fight, but later mentioned a possibility of a plow hitting him. Before the children testified, Higgins was questioned further. Yannetti asked Higgins about his text messages with the Albert family, which Higgins said were not important. Read had messaged Higgins saying her relationship with O'Keefe had gotten worse. On Friday, Jackson asked Higgins about a short phone call he had with Brian Albert early in the morning when O'Keefe died. There was no court on Monday due to Memorial Day, and the judge announced there would be no court for the rest of the week.
