Tottenham extends Timo Werner's loan deal for another year

Timo Werner, a player from Germany, will continue playing for Tottenham on loan from Leipzig for the entire next season. Werner, who is 28 years old, played for Tottenham in the second half of the recent season on loan, starting regularly and scoring two goals in 13 games in the Premier League. Unfortunately, he got a hamstring injury towards the end of the season, but Tottenham still finished fifth in the league, securing a spot in the Europa League. Werner didn't make it to Germany's team for the European Championship. Tottenham confirmed that they extended Timo Werner's loan for another year. The initial loan deal in January for the RB Leipzig player had an option to buy for about £15m, but the new deal is for £8.5m. The team's coach, Ange Postecoglou, is happy with Werner's performance. This deal is good for Tottenham as they aim to make an early impact in the transfer market. Werner joined Tottenham in January, scoring two goals in 13 Premier League matches. He wanted to stay at the club to regain his form after facing challenges in the past years. Werner struggled during his time at Chelsea, failing to show the form that led to his £53m transfer. Before joining Tottenham, he returned to RB Leipzig in 2022, scoring 11 goals in 35 Bundesliga games. Werner's experience and ability to play in different positions make him valuable to Tottenham. Postecoglou mentioned that Werner's stay is part of their strategy for the summer transfer window. He believes Werner has been beneficial to the team, especially in areas where they lacked depth. Postecoglou still needs more information before making final decisions about the team's composition.
