Story

Sweden's security agency says Iran is using criminal networks in Sweden to target Israeli or Jewish interests. This was announced by Daniel Stenling, head of the SAPO agency's counterespionage unit, after events in January. An object was found at the Israeli Embassy in Stockholm, but no arrests were made. Stenling claims Iran uses criminal networks in Sweden to plan attacks on Israeli and Jewish interests. He says there are connections between criminals in Sweden and Iranian security services. The agency wants to work internationally to prevent these crimes. Sweden has faced gang violence for years, with criminal gangs recruiting teenagers from disadvantaged neighborhoods. Last year, there were 363 shootings resulting in 53 deaths and 109 injuries. Two main gangs, Foxtrot and Rumba, have been in deadly feuds. Rawa Majid, leader of the Foxtrot network, lives in Turkey and has both Swedish and Turkish citizenship. Sweden requested his extradition, but Turkey refused.
