A man from Carroll County died in a crash in a construction zone. His 7-year-old son was hurt. The crash happened on a Friday night in Westminster. The man, Geoffrey Brittingham, who was 41 years old, didn't stop his car. He hit an excavator and a dump truck. The crash took place at the North Branch Patapsco River bridge replacement project. Sadly, Brittingham passed away at the scene. His son was taken to the hospital for care. The construction zone was not active when the crash occurred. Thankfully, no one else got hurt. The police say that the MD 91 bridge will be closed for a long time. To go around it, drivers should use MD 30 and MD 140. The Maryland State Police Crash team is looking into the incident.
