Story

Black women in America often face decisions made by powerful people that don't help them. On June 3, a court stopped a grant program for Black female entrepreneurs in Georgia. This setback hurts efforts to create a fair economy that benefits everyone. The Fearless Fund, like me, uses private money to fix the unfairness in our economy that holds Black women back. It's important for all of us who believe in equality to stand against this attack on fixing past wrongs. This is a step towards a future where everyone has the same chances. The Fearless Fund gave $20,000 grants to businesses owned by Black women because only a tiny percentage of companies getting venture capital are led by women of color. This shows that Black women are left out of opportunities that others have, even though they work hard. The wage gap between Black women and white men in top positions is huge. Special programs like this one help marginalized groups overcome challenges. A court stopped the grant program and said it might not be protected by the First Amendment. The person behind this legal action also fought against affirmative action in college admissions. The CEO of Fearless Fund was upset by the court's decision, saying it sends a message that diversity and fairness are not important. Black business leaders worry that undoing programs like this will set back progress made for Black and brown people. In the end, the court's decision is a setback for Black women entrepreneurs and the fight for equality.
