Bodies of missing Minnesota fishermen recovered from Boundary Waters
- Two fishermen's bodies found after going over a waterfall in Minnesota's Boundary Waters.
- Melvin Grams and Jesse Haugen were identified as the missing canoeists.
- Tragic end to fishing trip in northern Minnesota wilderness.
Authorities found the bodies of two men who went over a waterfall while fishing near the Minnesota-Ontario border last month. Melvin Grams, 40, from Lino Lakes, and Jesse Melvin Haugen, 41, from Cambridge were fishing at the top of Curtain Falls between Crooked Lake and Iron Lake. Their canoes went over the waterfall when one group tried to help the other. Two others survived the incident. The search for the missing fishermen was difficult due to bad weather. Cloud cover was too low for aerial surveillance, and rain made it hard for the search crew to operate. Trails, campsites, and bodies of water in the area were closed by Superior National Forest officials to help with the search efforts. As a result of the search, Melvin Grams' body was found on Monday, and Jesse Melvin Haugen's body was located on Friday. The tragic accident serves as a reminder of the dangers of fishing near waterfalls and the importance of being cautious in such areas.
