Story

Welcome to the Summer sizzle! Denver got really hot on Wednesday, reaching 91 degrees. This is 10 degrees higher than usual for this time of year. Despite being much hotter than normal, it was still 6 degrees cooler than the highest temperature ever recorded. The record for June 5th is 96 degrees, which was set in 2020. Normally, we expect the first 90 degree day around June 10. The rest of the week will continue to be hotter than usual. Thursday will be a bit cooler, dropping just a few degrees. On Friday, Denver might hit 90 degrees again, while Grand Junction in the Western Slope could reach 100 degrees for the first time this year. As we head into the weekend, temperatures will gradually drop, and there's a higher chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Be sure to check out meteorologist Callie Zanandrie's forecast for more updates.
