Story

The 24-year Fourth of July tradition in Boulder is ending. This summer, there won't be a Fourth of July event at Folsom Field at CU Boulder. The City of Boulder confirmed that its fireworks celebration, Ralphie's Independence Day Blast, is coming to an end. This celebration was made possible through a partnership with WK Real Estate. The event planning committee is looking for new opportunities for the future after a three-year break due to COVID and last year's show being affected by bad weather. Even though this annual event is ending, there are still things to do on July 4 in Boulder. The Boulder Symphony will perform at Glen Huntington Bandshell. Boulder Reservoir will be open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. The East Boulder Community Center will be open until 1:30 p.m. Scott Carpenter Pool, Spruce Pool, and Flatirons Golf Course will be open as usual. The city's parks will also be open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. You can also visit open space and mountain parks for hiking, biking, and camping. More information about fun events and activities can be found on Visit Boulder. The City of Boulder, Visit Boulder, Boulder Chamber, and University of Colorado Boulder are thinking about starting a new partnership to bring back the event to Folsom Field. They hope to find sponsors interested in supporting the event. The city plans to thank WK Real Estate through a City Council Declaration in August.
