Manchester United's Harry Maguire devastated over Euro 2024 absence

Harry Maguire will not play in Euro 2024 due to a calf injury. This is bad news for Gareth Southgate, the England manager. Jack Grealish is also not in the squad for the tournament in Germany. Southgate had to choose only 26 players from a group of 33. He had to tell James Maddison, Curtis Jones, James Trafford, Jarell Quansah, and Jarrad Branthwaite that they were not selected. Maguire's absence will impact Southgate's plans because he has been an important player in previous tournaments. Maguire tried hard to recover from his injury but couldn't make it in time for Euro 2024. He feels sad about missing out. Maguire wrote on social media that he is devastated not to be playing for England in the Euros. He injured his calf and couldn't recover in time. He will now focus on getting better for the next season with Manchester United. Maguire has played 63 games for England and has been a key player alongside John Stones. Without Maguire, Marc Guehi and Lewis Dunk are competing to play with Stones. Other options for center-back are Ezri Konsa and Joe Gomez. Southgate decided not to include Grealish in the squad. Instead, he chose players who had better seasons at their clubs like Cole Palmer, Anthony Gordon, Jarrod Bowen, and Eberechi Eze. Grealish has won 36 caps and was part of the squad for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
