Rex Heuermann charged in murders of 2 more women linked to Gilgo Beach killings
- Rex Heuermann charged in the murders of two more women, Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla.
- The accused may have started preying on women more than three decades ago, expanding the scope of the investigation.
- CBS New York's Jennifer McLogan provides details on the new charges related to the Gilgo Beach killings.
Rex Heuermann, the suspected Gilgo Beach killer, has been charged in the murders of two more women, Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla. This marks the first time he has been linked to murders outside of the Gilgo area. Heuermann may have started preying on young women earlier than previously believed, with Costilla's remains found in 1993 on the east end of Long Island. Expert criminologists view the new charges as an ominous sign. Heuermann, 60, had been living a quiet life with his family in Massapequa Park since 1987. In addition to the recent charges, he was also charged last year with the killings of three female sex workers. Heuermann's interest in unsolved murder cases was revealed after police searched his home, where they found a book titled "The Cases That Haunt Us" in his office.
