Paris Olympics organizers unveil Olympic ring display on Eiffel Tower
- Paris Olympics organizers unveiled a display of the five Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower.
- The rings were mounted between the first and second floors of the iconic tower.
- The display marks 50 days until the start of the Summer Games in Paris.
The Paris Olympics organizers showed the Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower. The rings are made of recycled French steel and are 9 meters in diameter. This happened 50 days before the Summer Games started. The rings were placed on the south side of the Eiffel Tower, which is a famous landmark in Paris. The tower is 135 years old and overlooks the Seine River. During the opening ceremony on July 26, thousands of athletes will parade through Paris on boats along a 6-kilometer route on the Seine. The Eiffel Tower will be a key location for the Paris Games and the Paralympics that follow. Volleyball matches will be held at the foot of the tower, with fans watching at the temporary Eiffel Tower Stadium nearby. The Olympic and Paralympic medals in Paris will contain pieces of iron from the tower. The Eiffel Tower has become even more popular as the 2024 Games approach. Two large cranes were used to lift a 30-ton structure and place it between the tower's first and second floors. The Olympic rings will be lit up every night with LED bulbs during the Paralympic Games. The Paralympics will bring together 4,400 athletes from 180 countries in 549 events and 22 sports. Many sports events will be held near famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, and the Grand Palais.
