Ohio's special congressional election could strengthen Donald Trump's allies
- Ohio voters are heading to the polls in a special congressional election.
- Donald Trump's allies may gain another House member with a victory in this election.
- The district was previously carried by the Republican former president in 2020.
In March, voters chose two people to run for a special election: Michael Rulli for the Republicans and Michael Kripchak for the Democrats. The election will happen on Tuesday. The results might come first from votes cast before Election Day. Republicans usually vote more on Election Day, so the early results may not show who will win. Rulli did well in the northern part of the district during the Republican primary. The Associated Press (AP) will not declare a winner until it's sure. If the lead is big enough, the AP may declare a winner even if there could be a recount. There are 528,784 registered voters in the district. By Wednesday, 5,497 votes were cast before Election Day. In the last election, the AP reported results at 7:37 p.m. with almost all votes counted. The November general election is in 147 days.
