Metro Detroit flight instructor killed in small plane crash "set a great example for everyone"

A 46-year-old flight instructor was killed and a 22-year-old University of Michigan student was injured in a small plane crash in Washtenaw County. The incident occurred near the Washtenaw-Lenawee County line around 1 p.m. on Monday. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was airlifted to the University of Michigan Hospital. The plane, registered out of Howell, had taken off from Ann Arbor around 11:30 a.m. In other news, jury selection is ongoing in the murder trial of Samantha Woll, who was found stabbed to death outside her Detroit home in October 2023.
