A mid-Michigan couple and a lawyer from the west side of the state won an $842.4 million Powerball lottery jackpot from a ticket purchased on New Year's Day. The winners, part of "The Breakfast Club" lottery club, chose a cash lump sum of $305 million after taxes. The winning numbers were 12, 21, 42, 44, 49, and red Powerball 1. The couple, who remain anonymous, expressed their excitement and plans to use the prize to positively impact their family for generations. They intend to continue working, travel more, possibly buy property in Florida, share the winnings with family, donate to charities, and enjoy newfound opportunities. The Food Castle convenience store in Grand Blanc, where the winning ticket was sold, will receive $50,000 in commission, which they plan to share with employees and donate to charity. The Michigan Lottery announced that "The Breakfast Club" won the jackpot, ending a 34-drawing streak without a winner. The club members, including two who had never won a large jackpot before, plan to retire early, travel, share their fortune with family and nonprofits, and embrace the life-changing impact of their win. The Powerball jackpot has since been won by another person in New Jersey, while Mega Millions offers a $30 million grand prize.
