John Stones misses England training session due to sickness
- John Stones was unable to attend the England training session due to a sickness bug.
- His absence puts his availability for Sunday's Group C opener in doubt.
- The remaining 25 squad players trained as usual for the upcoming match against Serbia.
John Stones was isolating from his England team-mates on Wednesday night as medical staff attempted to prevent illness spreading through the camp on the eve of the European Championship. Lewis Dunk is now on standby to come into the side in Stones' absence. Dunk has gone from a player on the periphery of the squad to a possible starter in less than a week, after Harry Maguire missed out because of injury. England have worked on the threat posed by Serbia's Aleksandar Mitrovic, and Dunk is confident in the team's defensive abilities. John Stones missed England training on Wednesday due to illness, adding to Gareth Southgate's challenges with absentees and fitness concerns ahead of Euro 2024.
