Archeologists uncover rare, expensive blue shrine in Pompeii

Buried and unseen for centuries, a sacred room has been unearthed at Pompeii with painted blue walls, a rare and expensive color in the Roman city.

The biggest archaeological dig in years in the ancient Italian city of Pompeii is turning up clues about how people lived before the city was buried in volcanic rock. A newly discovered banquet hall, ornate shrine and artwork show the sophistication and elegance of the Pompeians. NBC’s Kelly Cobiella reports for TODAY.
