A boat carrying over 270 passengers capsized near Kinshasa, Congo, with more than 80 dead, President Félix Tshisekedi confirmed. The incident occurred in Maï-Ndombe province along the Kwa River when the boat broke down due to engine failure. Eighty-six passengers died, while 185 managed to swim ashore. Overloading is a common issue in boat accidents in the country. Congolese officials have warned against overloading, but many passengers in remote areas cannot afford alternative transportation.
