Two New Jersey police officers were shot and wounded overnight at a hotel in Woodbridge Township during an NYPD investigation. The officers were searching for a suspect in a homicide when the suspect opened fire on them. The suspect was killed in the exchange of gunfire. One officer was shot in the foot, and the other was shot below his service vest on the right side of his hip. New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin commended the officers for their bravery and emphasized that no law enforcement member should face such violence while on duty. The police had tracked the suspect to the hotel after receiving a hit on his license plate. Neighbors were unaware of the situation until the police presence caught their attention. Body camera footage of the shooting will be released once the investigation is concluded.
