Former Stanford football coach David Shaw, 51, has joined the Denver Broncos as a senior personnel executive. Shaw, who coached the Cardinal from 2011-22, will assist GM George Paton in evaluating college and pro players. He has NFL coaching experience with the Eagles, Raiders, and Ravens. Shaw's new role is similar to Gary Kubiak's after he stepped down as Broncos head coach in 2016. Shaw will work mostly from his home in the Bay Area, with trips to training camp and games. He has connections to the Broncos, including ties to team owners and VP of player personnel Cody Rager. The Broncos are looking to improve after a streak of losing seasons and an eight-year playoff drought. They drafted quarterback Bo Nix in the first round after bidding farewell to several high-profile veterans.
