Yellen imposes new sanctions on Mexican cartel involved in drug trafficking

The Biden administration is taking steps to combat the trafficking of fentanyl, including issuing advisories to banks and passing legislation such as the FEND off Fentanyl Act. Fentanyl, a powerful opioid, is the deadliest drug in the U.S., with drug overdose deaths increasing significantly in recent years. Mexico and China are primary sources of fentanyl and related substances trafficked into the U.S. The Drug Enforcement Administration is working to combat illicit drug trafficking, with many precursor chemicals for fentanyl coming from China.
