A new visitor center at the Stonewall National Monument in New York will open next week, 55 years after the uprising that was a pivotal event in the struggle for LGBTQ+ rights. NBC News' Joe Fryer spoke with some of those involved with the project.

The Stonewall Visitor Center will be located at the same site of the June 1969 uprising that is largely credited as a turning point in the modern gay rights movement.
