Small Business Administration provides $30 million in grant funding to establish new Women's Business Centers

The Small Business Administration has announced a $30 million grant funding initiative for Women's Business Centers, with a focus on various projects, including the establishment of a new center in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Currently, there are 152 Women's Business Centers across all 50 states and Puerto Rico. This funding opportunity marks the first time that organizations offering virtual counseling and training services to women-owned small businesses will be eligible for grants, in addition to traditional in-person centers. The grants will be distributed across four key areas: supporting women business owners in government contracting, providing entrepreneurial development services to women-owned small businesses specializing in child care services, offering general entrepreneurial development services to women in areas lacking existing centers, and aiding in the establishment of a new center in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Christina Hale, Assistant Administrator for the SBA's Office of Women's Business Ownership, emphasized the importance of these centers in providing essential training and support for women entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. The initiative aims to empower women entrepreneurs by providing access to training and practical assistance through the establishment and operation of Women's Business Centers. By expanding the eligibility criteria to include virtual service providers, the SBA seeks to reach a broader audience of women-owned small businesses across the country.
