The Mississippi River in Red Wing has a rare July crest

City leaders are hopeful things will dry up before Red Wing River City Days, which kicks off the first weekend in August.

The Mississippi River in Red Wing has finally hit its peak. According to the National Weather Service, the river crested there today, just above major flood stage. High water is nothing new for the river town, but as our Beret Leone explains the flooding couldn’t have come at a worse time.
