Unilever Recalls Jolly Rancher Popsicles Due to Allergen Risk
- Unilever recalls 137,000 cases of Popsicle Jolly Rancher Frozen Confection Pops.
- Undeclared ingredient poses allergen risk to consumers.
- Consumers warned about potential health risks.
Unilever has announced a recall of more than 130,000 cases of Popsicle Jolly Rancher Frozen Confection Pops due to the potential presence of an undeclared allergen. The affected product, which is the "Green Apple Blue Raspberry Grape" flavor, may contain milk, a fact not disclosed on the packaging. This recall was issued following an alert from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), highlighting the serious risk for individuals with milk allergies or sensitivities. The recalled popsicles are typically sold through various channels, including ice cream trucks, concession stands, and grab-and-go freezers across the United States. However, it is important to note that this recall does not extend to the 18-count Popsicle Jolly Rancher multi-pack products available in grocery stores and retailers nationwide. The specific product involved in the recall carries the universal product code "077567003720" and includes 11 different lot codes. Unilever's decision to initiate the recall was prompted by findings indicating the possible presence of milk allergens in the product. The FDA has reported two allergic reactions linked to the recalled popsicles. Wholesale distributors and operators received these products between February and mid-August, and Unilever is offering reimbursement for the recalled items. Consumers seeking reimbursement will need to provide proof of purchase, which can be submitted as a photo of the Lot Code found on the bottom of the products. Unilever has stated that reimbursements will be processed within eight to ten weeks.
