Tesla Issues Recall for Nearly 11,400 Cybertrucks Over Safety Concerns

Tesla, the electric vehicle manufacturer led by Elon Musk, has announced a recall affecting approximately 11,400 Cybertrucks due to potential safety hazards. According to a report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a decorative trunk bed trim piece may become loose or detach from the vehicle, posing a risk to other motorists. The NHTSA highlighted that if the trim separates while the vehicle is in motion, it could create a road hazard, increasing the likelihood of accidents. In addition to the trunk bed issue, Tesla's recall report also noted concerns regarding inoperative windshield wipers, which could impair visibility and elevate crash risks. The company became aware of the trunk bed trim problem in late December, while the windshield wiper issue was identified in February. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries or accidents linked to these defects. Tesla has assured customers that the necessary repairs will be conducted at no cost. For the trunk bed trim, the company plans to either replace or rework the affected pieces to ensure they remain securely attached. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent to impacted Cybertruck owners in August. Since its announcement in 2019, Tesla has ramped up production of the Cybertruck, with Vice President of Vehicle Engineering Lars Moravy stating that the company was producing around 1,000 units per week as of late April. In the first quarter, Tesla's overall electric vehicle production reached nearly 433,400 units.
