PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) — South Africa concluded Day 2 of the first Test against the West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval with a solid score of 344-8 in their first innings. Captain Temba Bavuma and opening batter Tony de Zorzi were instrumental in building the innings, with Bavuma scoring 86 runs off 182 balls, including seven fours and a six. De Zorzi contributed significantly as well, making 78 runs from 145 deliveries, featuring seven fours and two sixes. In addition to the top-order performances, Kyle Verreynne and Wiaan Mulder added valuable runs, scoring 39 and 37 not out, respectively. The West Indies' bowling attack was led by left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican, who claimed three wickets for 66 runs in his 20 overs. Fast bowlers Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales also made their mark, each taking two wickets to help restrict South Africa's scoring. The day began with South Africa resuming play at 45-1 after rain had curtailed Day 1 to just 15 overs.
