Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh – On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, a special Bhasma Aarti was conducted at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. This revered ritual, known for its offering with ashes, took place during the auspicious Brahma Muhurta, between 3:30 and 5:30 AM. Devotees believe that participating in the Bhasma Aarti fulfills their wishes, making it a significant event for many. Priest Ashish Sharma elaborated on the ceremony, stating that the temple doors were opened at Brahma Muhurta for a holy bath of Lord Mahakal using Panchamrit, a mixture of milk, curd, ghee, sugar, and honey. In a patriotic gesture, Lord Mahakal was adorned in the colors of the Tricolour, symbolizing national pride. The temple was also illuminated, reinforcing the connection between the spiritual and national identity. Prayers were offered for the happiness and prosperity of the nation, with hopes for India to emerge as a global leader. In a parallel celebration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi, marking his 11th consecutive year in this role. Despite overcast skies and light rain, the ceremony proceeded with the Prime Minister receiving a 'Rashtriya Salute' after the flag hoisting.
