Faversham woman, 22, faces abuse from controlling boyfriend, 25

Josephine Bell, a 22-year-old mother from Faversham, Kent, endured a harrowing 19-month relationship with her boyfriend, Joshua Turner, 25, marked by severe emotional and physical abuse. Living together in Canterbury, she faced threats of violence, including chilling remarks about her potential death. Turner’s controlling behavior included isolating her from her family and friends, confiscating her phone, and instilling fear through accusations of infidelity. The abuse escalated to physical violence, leaving her with visible injuries that she felt compelled to hide from her colleagues. Despite the trauma, Josephine found the courage to report Turner to the police, leading to his guilty plea for controlling and coercive behavior, as well as assault by beating.
