During homecoming week, students at Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, Colorado, engaged in a campaign promoting kindness through the sale of T-shirts emblazoned with the phrase "Be Kind." This initiative is spearheaded by the Be Kind Club, which aims to foster a culture of positivity within the school community. Seniors Peyton Michlig and Mark Petre, who are part of the Class of 2025, expressed their desire to leave a lasting impact on their school before graduation. They emphasized the importance of kindness in combating negativity and creating a supportive environment. The Be Kind campaign has not only encouraged students to practice kindness in their daily interactions but has also extended its reach beyond the school. Funds raised from T-shirt sales have been donated to a high school in Lahaina, Hawaii, affected by wildfires, as well as to pediatric cancer research. This philanthropic aspect of the campaign highlights the students' commitment to making a difference both locally and globally. As part of the homecoming festivities, the school organized a "Be Kind day," where students wore their T-shirts to promote the message of kindness. Instead of a traditional "blackout" event, the students referred to it as a "Be Kind out," reinforcing their commitment to kindness in all aspects of school life, including academics and athletics. The initiative has resonated with the entire student body, fostering a sense of unity and purpose. The students believe that by embracing kindness, they can contribute to a more positive atmosphere, ultimately making the world a better place for everyone involved.
