The NBA has finalized an 11-year media rights agreement with Disney, NBC, and Amazon Prime Video, officially rejecting Warner Bros. Discovery's latest proposal. The league stated that the terms offered by Warner Bros. did not meet the competitive standards set by Amazon Prime Video, leading to a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing fan engagement and expanding viewership. Under this new arrangement, Amazon Prime Video will broadcast games on Friday nights, select Saturday afternoons, and Thursday night doubleheaders, starting after the conclusion of its "Thursday Night Football" schedule. Additionally, Prime Video will assume control of the NBA League Pass package, a move that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver believes aligns with the league's global appeal and will leverage Amazon's extensive subscriber base for innovative fan outreach. Disney will continue to play a significant role, with ESPN and ABC set to air approximately 18 playoff games in the first two rounds annually, along with one conference finals series each year. Starting in the 2025-26 season, Disney's package will also include WNBA and NBA games available for streaming on platforms like Disney+ in select markets, further solidifying its commitment to sports broadcasting.
