Third Arrest in Vienna Related to Taylor Swift Show Plot

VIENNA — Authorities in Austria have arrested a third teenager linked to a thwarted attack on Taylor Swift concerts, as confirmed by the country's interior minister on Friday. The main suspect, a 19-year-old, and a 17-year-old were apprehended earlier this week, while a 15-year-old was interrogated but not detained. Reports indicate that one suspect confessed to intentions of causing mass casualties outside the concert venue, with both the main suspect and the 18-year-old arrested on Friday having pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group. Concert organizers had anticipated large crowds, with up to 65,000 fans expected inside the stadium and an additional 30,000 outside. The planned attack was reportedly aimed at the outdoor audience. The interior minister emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety in light of the serious nature of the threats. Investigations revealed that the main suspect began plotting the attack in July, and authorities discovered materials related to the Islamic State and al-Qaida at the home of the 17-year-old suspect. Austria's intelligence services collaborated with foreign agencies to apprehend the suspects, and no additional individuals are currently being sought. The concert organizer, Barracuda Music, announced the cancellation of the three scheduled shows to ensure public safety.
