- The tourism departments have prepared a ₹4 crore budget for the cruise operations, alongside developing necessary infrastructure and amenities.
- This initiative is expected to significantly enhance tourism in both states, providing a new attraction for visitors.
In October 2024, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an interstate water route spanning 120 kilometers along the Narmada River. The route will connect Meghnad Ghat in Madhya Pradesh with the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, aiming to enhance tourism in both states. The tourism department of Madhya Pradesh has allocated a Detailed Project Report (DPR) budget of ₹4 crore for cruise operations along this route. Current efforts include creating necessary infrastructure at Meghnad Ghat and installing two floating jetties to serve as terminals for the cruise service. To accommodate visitors, there are plans to construct a resort near the ghat, with land tenders being invited. This initiative follows ongoing discussions with companies specializing in cruise operations, marking a significant boost to regional tourism.
