Story

In December 2024, FPT Corporation, a global IT corporation based in Vietnam, and DENSO Corporation, an automotive components manufacturer from Japan, officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the DENSO Headquarters in Aichi. The MOU aims to advance the development of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) with a primary focus on creating software for next-generation SDVs and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This collaboration comes as both companies seek to build a high-speed global development framework, with ambitions to expand their partnership by the end of 2027. The signing ceremony featured notable figures, including Dr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT, and Mr. Shinnosuke Hayashi, President and CEO of DENSO. FPT has brought two decades of automotive experience and a dedicated team of 5,000 automotive software engineers to the partnership. The collaboration marks an extension of their previous work together that began in 2017, which started with IT services and grew to include digital transformation projects in DENSO's factories across Asia. As part of the agreement, FPT and DENSO plan to establish an offshore development center focused on human resource development and training, where FPT will provide top-tier AI engineers while DENSO will develop training platforms. Dr. Binh emphasized the importance of innovation in the automotive industry and expressed his commitment to creating smarter, safer, and more connected vehicles through their joint efforts. Furthermore, this partnership illustrates FPT's strategy to contribute significantly to the automotive sector, which they underscored with the launch of FPT Automotive earlier in 2023. DENSO’s commitment to research and development is evident, as they allocate about 7.7% of their global sales towards these initiatives, helping to continue paving the way for innovative solutions in transportation.
