PARIS, Aug. 9 (UPI) — The U.S. women's basketball team continued its remarkable Olympic journey, extending its winning streak to 60 games with a decisive 85-64 victory over Australia. Breanna Stewart led the charge with 16 points, securing Team USA's place in the gold medal game, where they will face either France or Belgium on Sunday. The Americans showcased their offensive prowess, outshooting Australia with a field goal percentage of 50.7% compared to the Australians' 36.2%. Jackie Young contributed significantly with 14 points, while A'ja Wilson added 10 points and eight rebounds. Team USA dominated in key statistical areas, including rebounds (46-33), assists (31-16), points in the paint (44-28), and fast-break points (26-9). From the outset, Team USA established control, launching a 14-4 run to set the tone for the game.
