Arrested Suspect Bites Officer in Greenville

Greenville, S.C. – A suspect with 16 active warrants was arrested Friday night following a violent confrontation with police. The suspect, identified as Marty Benjamin Miller, was spotted driving in the Nicholtown community, prompting an officer to approach him at an address on McCullough Street. Miller initially refused to comply with commands and attempted to flee in his vehicle, leading to a struggle with the officers. As the situation escalated, Miller presented a firearm, creating a dangerous environment for the officers involved. Despite his resistance, police were able to disarm him. However, during the altercation, Miller bit one of the officers severely. In response to the escalating violence, a K9 officer was deployed, which resulted in Miller being bitten as well. Both the injured officers and Miller were transported to the hospital for treatment following the incident. Miller is wanted for several offenses, including shoplifting and failure to stop for police. He is expected to face additional charges, including resisting arrest with assault on a police officer and possession of a firearm by a violent felon. Miller's bond has been set at $20,000 as he awaits further legal proceedings.
