Bradley Nelson Dies Following Years of Abuse and Medical Struggles

Bradley Nelson, a nine-year-old boy from Whitby, passed away in Scarborough General Hospital on October 22, having suffered from severe medical complications resulting from being shaken as a baby. In April 2016, when he was seven months old, Bradley was injured by his father, Darren Spreadbury, who was later convicted of causing grievous bodily harm. As a result of the attack, Bradley was left blind and unable to walk, needing constant care throughout his life. In the years following his trauma, Bradley faced numerous health challenges, including cerebral palsy and epilepsy, and had undergone multiple medical procedures. His mother, Sharon Boocock, dedicated her life to his care, describing the emotional and physical toll it took on her family. Despite the hardships, Bradley remained cheerful and had a close bond with his mother and her partner, Jonny Nelson. Recently, after showing signs of distress, Bradley was sent home from school but later suffered a seizure and lost consciousness. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, as he had complex medical needs stemming from his earlier injuries. The North Yorkshire Police have acknowledged the ongoing inquiry, highlighting the necessity of thorough processes in such sensitive cases. A fundraiser was initiated by friends of Ms. Boocock to cover funeral expenses for Bradley, reflecting the community's support during this tragic time.
